Excursions

For just £20 per person, we can take you on a half day excursion. And for £40 we'll drive you to Potes (Picos de Europa) on a day trip including a typical Spanish meal in a local restaurant. Bear in mind that you will have to pay your own entrance tickets to museums, etc.

Excursions in the region

Santillana del Mar & Altamira Museum

Get back to medieval times visiting one of the most beautiful and famous villages in Spain. You can also visit an extraordinary replica of the Altamira cave. The polychrome painting, engravings and monochrome paintings, date back some 14,000 years B.C.

Fishing villages

There are very nice villages in the coast that you should visit, like Castro Urdiales, San Vicente de la Barquera or Comillas.

El Soplao

You can visit a unique cavern, an authentic natural "paradise" of striking formations with large surfaces coated in aragonite, false ceiling, stalactites, stalagmites, especially helictite ad eccentric (antigravitational) creating a show of lights and shadows, sensations, colours and smells.

Picos de Europa

It's one of the most spectacular mountain ranges in the Iberian Peninsula where you can do a bit of trekking. Discover Potes, Picos de Europa medieval capital.

Cabárceno Nature Reserve

It's a spectacular limestone based landscape, extracted by mining, that lies 15 km from Santander. Besides Iberian fauna, over 100 different species can be observed. Deer, European bison, dromedaries, tigers, bears, ... living "semi-wild" in large expanses of land, setting out to imitate its original habitat.

Due to its coastal location, Santander enjoys extraordinarily beautiful surroundings.

Santander is a modern city with a seaside elegance, which attracts many visitors mainly in Summer.

The beaches

The city of Santander has got more than 5 km. of beaches where you can sunbathe or practice activities such as sailing, scuba diving, snorkelling, fishing, etc.

Walking around

You can take nice walks and enjoy magnificent views all along the city coastline.

Fishing Port

The Barrio Pesquero a fisherman's area lined with gritty taverns and earthy restaurants.

Magdalena Palace

Visit the Royal Palace, a summer residence for King Alfonso XIII in the early twentieth century. The Palace has lovely stables, vast gardens and its own beach.

Cathedral and Town Hall

In 1187, King Alfonso VIII made the abbot of San Emeterio which became Santander Cathedral. The lovely Town Hall is a good place to meet with friends.

Racing de Santander

Racing plays in La Liga. Watch Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Beckham, etc. playing at El Sardinero.

Museo de Bellas Artes & Museo Marítimo

Enjoy some Goya's pictures and impressive aquariums in these two city museums.
